Entry #10 Superbad

                                                Superbad

Hey guys today I'm going to talk about one of the funniest movies ever made; "Superbad." To be honest I don't know how I'm going to start this blog this movie is classic.

This movie shows lifelong buddies Seth and Evan who are determined to create crazy memories before heading off to different colleges. With no IDs, in hand and a goal to impress their crushes they try to throw an unforgettable party.
McLovin It: An Oral History of 'Superbad' | Vanity Fair
Right from the start "Superbad" captivated me with its characters. Seth, portrayed by Jonah Hill is the friend who often finds himself in situations. He's this super confident dude that literally can make a joke out of anything. On the hand Evan, played by Michael Cera is the reserved and sensitive one. But it's not just Seth and Evan; the supporting characters leave a good impression too. McLovin, the teen with an ID but a kind heart, to Officer Michaels and Officer Slater the comical cops caught up in the boys plans. To be honest each character the movie adds something special to the mix.

What makes "Superbad" stand out from other comedies is its message about friendship, loyalty and growing up. While its full of jokes and wild things there's a strong bond between Seth and Evan that you can't fake.

"Superbad" shows us that true friendship endures no matter what life throws at us. Watching Seth and Evan move forward into their chapter stirs up feelings of nostalgia, for the innocence and thrill of youth.
If you're looking for a movie thats both funny and touching I highly recommend checking this out its definitely worth your time.

Entry #9 Social Media Around Me

                                 Social Media Around Me

Hey everyone I wanted to talk about something that doesn't get attention. The impact of social media on our lives. As someone who has spent an amount of time scrolling through feeds and engaging with posts I've realized that social media can be a bag bringing both positivity and negativity into our lives.
How to Use Instagram for You or Your Business
Lets talk about the positives Ive noticed about using social media. One aspect of media that I truly appreciate is its ability to connect us with people from backgrounds regardless of where they are located. Whether it involves reconnecting with friends, forming friendships or joining communities with shared interests social media has the capacity to make the world seem smaller and more accessible. Other than making these connections, social media serves as a platform for amplifying voices that might not otherwise be heard. From movements to fundraisers platforms like Twitter, Instagram and TikTok have emerged as influential tools, for driving change and spotlighting crucial issues.

However it's not always positive things like this. It's incredibly easy to get swept up in the ending scroll comparing ourselves to others and seeking validation through likes and comments. Before we realize it we're ensnared in a spiral of self doubt and insecurity. I personally haven't had this feeling but I know a lot of people who have gone through this.

So where does that leave us?  Through my experiences experiencing the highs and lows of media firsthand I've learned that finding equilibrium and establishing boundaries are key. Using these things thoughtfully being mindful of their drawbacks and taking breaks when necessary to recharge and reconnect with the world beyond our screens is important. Above all it's crucial to remember that every profile picture and curated feed represents a multifaceted individual, with aspirations, anxieties and aspirations much like our own. By approaching media with understanding, kindness and genuineness I believe we can utilize its potential for change and build a more interconnected empathetic world for everyone.

Entry #8 Rocky

                                                 Rocky

Today I felt like wanting to reminisce and discuss a movie that holds a place in my heart; "Rocky."

The time I saw "Rocky" it felt like it was yesterday. It's one of those movies that really stuck with me not for its training scenes and thrilling boxing fights but also for the profound story it conveys about resilience, determination and the human spirit. It's one of my favorite movies of all time.
Zimmer: Rocky is the greatest movie character of all time
At its essence "Rocky" narrates the story of an underdog. It traces the path of Rocky Balboa, a boxer from Philadelphia who seizes an opportunity to challenge the heavyweight champion of the world. What makes "Rocky" unique among sports films is its emphasis on the challenges and victories of its character. In "Rocky" the fight isn't about winning a championship or earning money; it's about earning respect. Proving oneself against all odds. We witness Rockys dedication to training for his fights and the unexpected bonds he forms along his journey.

However "Rocky" transcends beyond just boxing matches. It's also about the connections that mold us and the experiences that shape us. From Rockys love story with Adrian the reserved pet shop assistant, to his bond with his coach, Mickey the movie is filled with instances of genuine emotion and authentic human interactions. By the way we can't overlook those training sequences. Who could ever forget Rocky sprinting up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art or pounding on meat in the freezer at his neighborhood butcher. These scenes serve as reminders of the unwavering determination and commitment required to achieve greatness.

Perhaps the lasting impact of "Rocky" lies in its message about believing in oneself. Despite life knocking him down time and again Rocky always rises, prepared to confront any obstacles that come his way.
In a world that can feel overwhelming and uncertain at times it's a message we can all hold close, to our hearts.

If you haven't watched this movie yet then what are you doing go watch it. It's an iconic movie that I believe everyone has to see. Like I said it holds a special place in my heart and who knows it might do the same for you.

Entry #7 Hashtag

                                The Hashtag

The hashtag has developed throughout the years as a popular way to get things out there. But how did it all start? How did they even gain popularity amongst users? Lets dive in to it.

The Hashtag: What is it and How Do I Use it? | WTWH Media Marketing Lab
To be honest I can still recall when hashtags started picking up steam on Twitter. At first they seemed like a way to categorize tweets or add some humor to some posts. Fast to today and hashtags have become tools for organizing content starting conversations and uniting communities worldwide. But what makes them so important? Well they're amazing at bringing people over shared interests, causes or events. Like when there's an important cause that is trending people will use the hashtag for that cause.
It's not just, about causes and activism. Hashtags have also changed how we find content and connect with people who share our interests. With platforms such, as Instagram and TikTok we now have the ability to discover a range of photos, videos and stories effortlessly by clicking on hashtags. It's like having access to a world right at our fingertips. The popularity of hashtags has caught the attention of marketers and brands. Businesses of all sizes are utilizing hashtags to expand their reach increase engagement and enhance brand awareness. Whether it's #Nike, #Adidas or #CFA companies are using hashtags to generate excitement around what they have to offer like never before.

However like Uncle Ben from the movie Spiderman said with great power comes great responsibility. While hashtags have brought us closer in ways they have also sparked discussions about privacy concerns, misinformation and online bullying. Not every trending contributes positively so it's crucial for us as users to use this tool responsibly.

What's the future for hashtags? Will it maintain its dominance, in the realm of media or will it be overshadowed by something else? Only time will reveal the answer.
Love them or hate them it's undeniable that hashtags have become a part of our interactions influencing how we communicate, connect and express ourselves in todays era.

Entry #6 Big George Foreman

                   George Foreman The Movie

Boxing is a sport with many greats. The sport is filled with many superstars from the past to the present. The intense sport brings a lot of fans and hype to it because of the action it can bring. Like Muhammed Ali, Floyd Maywheather, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Robinson and the list goes on. There is one fighter though that was also really popular and was once considered the best in the world. His name is George Foreman and he was a heavyweight champion who once came from nothing to being the best in the world. George Foreman's life wasn't always sunshine and rainbows and the movie "Big George Foreman" breaks down his life and he found the love to box.

Big George Foreman (2023) - IMDb

The movie Big George Foreman takes the viewer on how George Foreman's life was before he became this superstar in boxing. When George was a kid he had anger issues and he wouldn't be able to control them. This would lead to him doing bad things like fighting with kids at school. He would have to move from school to school because of this and it was looking all bad for him especially since his family was poor. George would get in trouble with the law sometimes and this made decide to join the Job Corps where he had the last chance to turn his life around. This however did not change his violent outbursts and that's when the chairman of the Job Corps decided to encourage George to start boxing as a way for him to take out his anger. After he makes the decision to start boxing his whole life takes a turn for the better.

This movie is a must watch whether you're a boxing fan or not. It's filled with emotions and its a must watch if your looking to spend some free time on watching a movie.

Entry #5 Education

Does having a college degree mean higher pay?

In todays age there seems to be a lack of college graduates. Some don't go because of the cost, others because of personal issues that they might have going on in their lives. In fact  according to bestcolleges.com In 2022, 61% of all people ages 18-24 were not enrolled in college. Some pqowple also like to just get to working straight of high school but is that really the best idea? Let's dive a little bit deeper into it.

The goal is set: 60 percent of Arizona residents should have a college degree or certificate by 2030.

People once they graduate like to go straight to working because they probably believe that going to college wont get them a higher paying job and instead they'll just be stuck paying their student loans off. Which can be right sometimes but not all the time. In fact according to azcentral.com "Arizonans with bachelor's degrees as their highest educational attainment make 67% more in median earnings than those with just high school degrees. High school graduates who did not complete any further education make 21% more than people who don't have a high school degree." This sounds great for the long term but some people just simply can afford it even if they manage to get some sort of scholarship and fafsa. That's another problem is the coat of the tuition to go to a university its really expensive to the average American and when they're unable to get a scholarship or financial aid they are stuck having to take out student loans. According to educationdata.org "The average public university student borrows $32,637 to attain a bachelor’s degree." This is a lot of money and that's not including the interest on top of that which can increase the original amount you owe by a ton. It's also not always bad to not go to college you can also go to trade school which is a great option that can also lead you to having a good paying job.

So whats really the better option? Personally I'm in college because of soccer. I want to try to play at the highest level I can and going to college is a step I choose to take. I want to also major in construction management and if I wasn't playing soccer I would defiantly recommend to start in community college if there's something you want to do that's only going to happen if you go to school. If going to school doesn't interest you then find a job or a career that interests you.

Entry #4 Fury

Fury a phenomenal piece of cinema

On spring break you finally get the freedom to take a break from school and do things you want to actually do unless you actually enjoy school. Some like to go out more, go work more or just get the time to do the hobbies they like to enjoy on their free time. For some it can be a mix of all that but if you have nothing to do and you're at home you can always watch a movie. A classic thing to do. But what movie can you watch? If you have the time then you should defiantly watch Fury.  A phenomenal piece of cinema.

Fury is a movie that stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, and Jon Bernthal as members of an American tank crew fighting in Nazi Germany during the final weeks of the European theater of World War II. As the movie goes on you get to experience the crew fight their way across Germany and it's truly amazing how close the crew is and how they become this sort of brotherhood throughout the film. A suspenseful, savage, and emotional movie that teaches you a lot about the good and bad of human nature.  This movie is one of the best war movies that has ever been made it truly does not disappoint if you want to watch a good war movie.

Fury is truly an amazing piece of cinema that makes you not want the movie to end. The movie has been out since 2014 but it's never too late to watch this phenomenal piece of cinema.
